Abstract
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common pathogen of acute respiratory tract infections. Diseases such as pneumonia caused by RSV infection kill many children every year, which has become a clear threat to public health safety. There is an urgent need for a method to better prevent and control RSV in times of epidemic outbreaks. In this experiment, a PfAgo-based POCT detection method was constructed. This allows detection of suspected RSV infected samples and typing of their subgroups in about 1 hour approximately. The results also showed that the method has excellent sensitivity and specificity. Compared with the gold standard RT-qPCR, it has accuracy higher than 95%. In conclusion, our results constructed a PfAgo-based POCT method that can accurately diagnose and type RSV infection within 1 hour, which can well compensate for the shortcomings of current clinical POCT methods for RSV infection
