Albumin fusion protein technology is becoming an important tool for the delivery of therapeutic peptides and proteins. In the Albumin fusion protein, Albumin is genetically fused with a therapeutic partner resulting in a contiguous protein that has an extended circulatory half-life while retaining therapeutic activity.
The fused Albumin-drug compound can assist with the drug’s delivery and extend the half-life of a protein drug as a fusion partner, whilst maintaining its activity. In order to support the rising production of a wide range of recombinant albumin fusion proteins, an affinity matrix has been developed that is highly stable, robust, non-toxic and provides high binding capacity, recovery and purity: AlbuPure®.

AlbuPure® is a selective affinity chromatography adsorbent developed by Astrea Bioseparations Ltd (Astrea) in collaboration with Albumedix for the purification of albumin-fusion proteins.
AlbuPure® is manufactured exclusively by Astrea in a controlled environment to ISO 9001 quality standard and is produced and designed for use in cGMP manufacturing of biological molecules.
The AlbuPure® adsorbent comprises a novel synthetic triazine ligand derived from Astrea’s Mimetic Ligand™ technology and is coupled to Astrea’s proprietary PuraBead® 6HF base matrix (a highly cross-linked 6% near monodisperse beaded agarose). This proven technology provides a stable ligand and attachment chemistry with low ligand leakage that enables the use of up to 1.0 M NaOH for cleaning and sanitization ensuring extended adsorbent lifetimes.
