Within the last few weeks multiple publications appeared, which use the universal #LateralFlow #development platform - Milenia HybriDetect. We want to share three interesting papers adressing different topics with different #detection strategies using one single lateral flow device.
1. Terawut Prasitporn and colleagues from Bangkok, Thailand developed a molecular assay for the sensitive detection of the scale drop disease virus (SDDV), a major #pathogen for the asian sea bass. The authors combined an #isothermalAmplification method, the #CrossPrimingAmplification, with a colorimetric and lateral flow based readout, using the Milenia® HybriDetect. They were able to detect as low as 100 copies per µL in approx. 1 hour. Moreover, the assay was modified to effectively prevent #carryover contaminations.
2. Authors from the Bejing Institute of Biotechnology presented the development of a RPA-#CRISPR/Cas12a-Lateral Flow Assay for the ultrasensitive and specific detection of Yersinia pestis. Y. pestis is the ethiologic agent of #plague and thus is characterized as a potential #biothreat agent. Chen et al. present a innovative genetic screening approach that results in a very specific #POC-Test using the Milenia® HybriDetect.
3.An emerging #tick-borne disease is #babesiosis. The causal agent is the protozoan #parasite Babesia microti. Zheng Nie and colleauges from State Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology, Wuhan-China, developed a rapid #RecombinasePolymeraseAmplification and combined it with a simple and fast lateral flow readout (Milenia® HybriDetect). They were able to detect 0,25 parasites per µL blood in less than 30 minutes.
